History of Knight Frank

Knight Frank Singapore has a proud history that traces all the way back to 1940 with the establishment of Cheong Hock Chye & Co.

The creation of the modern practice dates back to 1983, when the local firm Cheong Hock Chye & Company merged with the Knight Frank Global Network and the Australian Baillieu Hooker group.

Significant dates in Knight Frank’s history.

2009 – Knight Frank Singapore has grown substantially and now employs about 600 staff across 3 offices.

2008 – VirtualHomes, an innovative condominium search engine that supports the marketing of residential properties for sale and lease, was launched in October.

2006 – Knight Frank Shopping Centre Management Pte Ltd (KFSCM) was set up. We are the first and till today, the only, international services firm to be appointed to manage a shopping centre in Singapore.

2000 – Knight Frank Estate Management (KFEM) was established, and is now one of the leading estate management companies in the nation.

1998 – The inception of KF Property Network to better serve clients in the secondary housing market.

1996 – The company name Knight Frank Cheong Hock Chye & Baillieu was changed to Knight Frank Pte Ltd.

1996 – The largest Collective Sale with 100% agreement at Thomson Court was sold for S$208 million.

1994 – The first Collective Sale at Cosy Mansion in Singapore was sold by Knight Frank for S$24.7 million.

1983 – Knight Frank Cheong Hock Chye & Baillieu was launched and the company began carving a bigger niche in the property scene.

1975 – A fire disaster forced CHC to relocate to the Bank of East Asia Building.

1952 – About 17 plots of 99-year leasehold land along Shenton Way, which was then basically vacant land, were put up for sale by CHC on behalf of the government.

1941 – Business was temporary disrupted when World War II broke out.

1940 – Knight Frank started out as Cheong Hock Chye & Company (CHC) in a two-storey pre-war shophouse, with a six-man team which did mainly valuation work and auctioneering.
